The Yellow Wind Sage’s most frustrating attack during this phase begins with him running at you and performing a quick kick. If you don’t dodge the kick he’ll launch you into the air and begin a lengthy and unavoidable combo attack that will usually drain most of your health , if not all of it. Watch for him dashing at you to perform the kick and get out of the way by any means necessary since this attack is a grab and ignores invincibility effects like Rock Solid and Resolute Counterflow .
When you first approach the boss, he tends to perform a series of slashes with his staff, sending out blades of wind toward you. With good timing, you can perfect dodge through these wind blades as they get close, though dodging to the side as they get close or hopping over the horizontal blades will also work. The Yellow Wind Sage usually fires two wind blades with consecutive staff swings, then vaults into the air as he fires the third blade. He can also fire a single blade before transitioning to an overhead slam that sends glowing spikes shooting out of the ground in a line. Luckily, this slam can be avoided by dodging to the left or right as the staff comes down. After the staff hits the ground, you’ll have a short opening to attack the Yellow Wind Sage while he recovers.
You’ll be rewarded with an achievement for unlocking all transformations as well as all spells, but doing this is quite a task since while you’ll get a few of these through unmissable scenes, there are a few spells and a lot more transformations, which are only obtainable through thorough exploration and completion of some more obscure quest li

Another melee attack the Yellow Wind Sage can use is a combo that starts by drawing his staff back, causing the bottom of it to glow. He will then swing it forward, before performing a forward stomp, and then finish with a wide swing. This attack is pretty easy to avoid by dodging around to his side and making sure you aren’t in front of him.
After his health has dropped by roughly 1/3, the Yellow Wind Sage will start to whip up strong winds around himself while boasting about his Samadhi Wind, whirling his staff overhead. If you have the Wind Tamer , activate it now to stun him and dispel the wind, giving you a huge opening to pummel him with powerful attacks (this is also a great time to use Pluck of Many.) If you don’t have the Wind Tamer , you’ll have to back off until the whirlwind surrounding him fades. It has a very wide AOE, so back away as far as possible.
